The United Arab Emirates has strongly rejected allegations linking it to the ongoing civil war in Sudan, maintaining that it has not supplied weapons, military equipment, or related materiel to any of the warring parties since the conflict erupted in April 2023.
The response, issued by the UAE’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organisations in Geneva, came in direct reaction to a published report by the United Nations Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan. The UAE mission stated that the country remains fully committed to international law, UN investigative mechanisms, and adherence to international humanitarian standards.
According to the UAE, officials engaged transparently and substantively with the UN fact-finding team. The government highlighted that the UN report itself acknowledged the UAE’s commitment to compliance with international law, its ongoing humanitarian assistance to crisis-hit Sudan, and its robust domestic legal and regulatory frameworks designed to ensure impartial investigations and hold private actors accountable for unlawful conduct.
Addressing the wider humanitarian crisis, the UAE strongly condemned violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law committed by both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The country reaffirmed its strict obligations under the UN Security Council sanctions regime, which includes enforcement measures targeting designated individuals and entities.
Taking a firm stance on regional stabilization, the UAE called for the existing UN arms embargo—currently restricted primarily to Darfur—to be extended across the entirety of Sudan. Furthermore, it demanded that all forms of external military support and foreign intervention directed at the warring factions be brought to an immediate end without exception.
The UAE renewed its appeal for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, an urgent humanitarian truce to protect civilians caught in the crossfire, and the initiation of a comprehensive political process led by civilians rather than the warring factions or extremist groups. Stressing the sensitivity of the situation, the UAE mission emphasized that all allegations regarding external involvement must be evaluated through an objective, impartial, and evidence-based methodology, ensuring that information is independently verified against consistent evidentiary standards.
