South Sudan Oil & Power 2026 set for November in Juba

By HER staff reporter

South Sudan is rapidly preparing to host its premier energy sector gathering following the official announcement that the South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) conference will take place in Juba on November 24–25, 2026. Fully endorsed by the Ministry of Petroleum, this upcoming seventh edition arrives at a critical turning point for the national economy. Its core mission is to stimulate fresh investment, cement strategic partnerships, and fuel sustainable industrial growth for the future.

Operating under the inspiring theme “Resource Renaissance – Energy-Fueled Growth for a New Generation,” SSOP 2026 will serve as a high-level convergence point. It will unite senior government leaders, local and international energy corporations, financial institutions, service providers, and development partners. The overarching objective is to maximize the true economic worth of South Sudan’s natural endowments, upgrade vital export and energy infrastructure, and catalyze broader economic diversification extending far beyond standard upstream operations.

This exciting announcement mirrors an active phase of recovery and newfound optimism throughout the nation’s petroleum market. Over recent months, the industry has witnessed impressive operational momentum, aggressive field rehabilitation, and smart production enhancements directed by leading local operators.

Most notably, the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) shattered previous benchmarks by achieving its highest output in twenty years, soaring past 60,000 barrels per day. At the same time, the Sudd Petroleum Operating Company is aggressively boosting production targets within Block 5A. Meanwhile, the Dar Petroleum Operating Company continues expanding its operational footprint.

Emphasizing the fruits of relentless exploration and appraisal, Dar Petroleum announced a breakthrough oil discovery at the Al-Nahla field earlier in March 2026, which has substantially improved production flows across Blocks 3 and 7. Even though South Sudan boasts estimated reserves reaching up to 3.5 billion barrels, its energy landscape remains largely untapped, with roughly 90% of these mineral resources still awaiting development.

Closing this massive deficit stands as a top priority for the administration, which is continuously refining policies to draw international investment across the entire oil value chain, streamline exportation corridors, and cultivate strong local workforces.

SSOP 2026 is carefully structured to grant investors direct, unmediated access to crucial market decision-makers. Participants can network directly with the Ministry of Petroleum, the national oil corporation Nilepet, prominent field operators, and key regional entities—such as the South African National Petroleum Company—alongside a vast contingent of international investors hailing from the United States, China, Europe, and the Middle East.

The upcoming summit draws immense strength from the structural successes of past conferences, which have repeatedly turned high-level dialogue into concrete economic contracts. Previous gatherings have welcomed hundreds of global delegates and successfully birthed multiple strategic pacts covering upstream exploration, expanded drilling capabilities, regional energy collaboration, and cross-sector mining initiatives.
