Ethiopian Airlines has been named Best Airline in Africa at the 2026 SKYTRAX World Airline Awards, securing the title for the ninth consecutive year.
The airline also won two other regional awards: Best Economy Class Onboard Catering in Africa and Best Business Class in Africa, according to a press release issued on Friday.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the recognition reflected customers’ confidence in the airline, as well as the dedication of its employees and its commitment to delivering world-class service.
“Being recognized as the Skytrax Best Airline in Africa for the ninth consecutive year is a proud milestone for Ethiopian Airlines,” Tasew said. “This achievement reflects the confidence that our valued customers place in us, the dedication of our employees, and our continued commitment to delivering world-class service.”
The airline said it has continued to invest in modern aircraft, digital innovation, network expansion and service improvements to enhance the passenger experience.
Ethiopian Airlines currently operates passenger and cargo flights to more than 160 domestic and international destinations across five continents. Its fleet includes Boeing 737, 777 and 787 aircraft, as well as Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000 planes and De Havilland Q400 aircraft.
The Star Alliance member said it is also pursuing a multi-hub strategy through partnerships and operations in Lomé, Togo, with ASKY; Lilongwe, Malawi, with Malawi Airlines; Lusaka, Zambia, with Zambia Airways; and Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with Air Congo.
