A new legal practice management platform designed to address the specific operational realities of law firms in emerging markets has been launched, with Africa identified as its initial focus.
Developed by U.S.-incorporated firm Mkenga Na Namwaka, MatterMiner is positioned as a hyper-localised solution tailored to jurisdictional requirements, languages, and workflows, rather than relying on standardised global templates. The rollout will begin across African markets, including Commonwealth jurisdictions, Ethiopia, and selected Francophone countries.
The platform aims to tackle persistent challenges faced by law firms, such as lost billable time, missed deadlines, fragmented systems, and complex billing and trust-accounting processes. By integrating these functions into a unified system, MatterMiner seeks to improve efficiency, compliance, and visibility across legal operations.
A key feature of the platform is its localisation strategy. MatterMiner launches with native support for French, Swahili, and Amharic, and is designed to adapt to country-specific regulatory frameworks, tax systems, and legal workflows. The company says additional language versions will be introduced as it expands into new markets.
“Law firms need technology that reflects how legal work is actually done locally,” said Salimatou Diallo, Managing Partner at ADNA Law, noting that jurisdiction-specific solutions are critical in diverse legal environments.
MatterMiner offers a suite of tools including matter management, AI-assisted time tracking, billing systems with tax support, trust-accounting workflows, and analytics for firm leadership. It is targeted at managing partners, operations teams, finance departments, and IT professionals within both established and growing firms.
The company’s founder, Elsante Mnzava, said the platform draws on more than a decade of experience delivering legal technology solutions across multiple jurisdictions. He noted that Africa was selected as the starting point due to shared operational challenges across markets, combined with the need for strong localisation.
Artificial intelligence is a core component of the platform, embedded within workflows to automate routine tasks and support legal processes. The system includes an AI agent, “Nangasu,” designed to assist with task execution while maintaining strict controls around data security, permissions, and governance.
The platform also incorporates enterprise-grade security features, including role-based access controls, encryption, and region-specific data hosting aligned with regulatory requirements.
MatterMiner is being introduced through guided onboarding and demo-led deployment, with free onboarding and data migration offered to early adopters. Its pricing structure is designed to align with regional market conditions, offering access to advanced features typically associated with higher-tier global platforms.
With its Africa-first rollout and emphasis on localisation, the company is positioning MatterMiner as a potential enabler of digital transformation in the continent’s legal sector, where demand for modern, compliant, and efficient practice management tools continues to grow.
