According to information reported by Africa Business, French hydrocarbons giant TotalEnergies has reached an agreement to sell its Ethiopian network of about 120 service stations to Pan-African operator OLA Energy(OiLibya). The report says the deal would transfer a major retail fuel network in Ethiopia, where TotalEnergies has operated for decades.
TotalEnergies currently runs a substantial fuel retail business in Ethiopia, with around 120 to 143 service stations cited in company materials, and earlier reports show the company has long been one of the country’s major fuel marketers.
The reported sale would mark a significant shift in Ethiopia’s fuel distribution market, though neither TotalEnergies nor the alleged buyer has publicly confirmed the transaction.
